This painting shows a small group of torching trees in a forest. The flames glow among the thick branches. It's semi-abstract with a lot of depth due to the layers of wax used to create the painting. Hot wax with pigment is applied and then bonded to the surface with a flaming torch. It is painted on a 6 x 6 x 3/4" cradled wood panel. The original is framed and ready to hang in a black and gold floating frame with an overall dimension of approximately 7.5 x 7.5 x 1.25". The price reflects free shipping in the US. I love making art, but my day job is wildland firefighting. I fell backwards into fire management after earning a degree in Forestry. Most of the summer, I travel to fire assignments, predicting fire spread and behavior one day or several weeks in advance with the goal of helping managers make good decisions about ongoing wildfires. I've held positions in Grand Canyon National Park in Arizona, the Bitterroot National Forest in Montana, in Christchurch New Zealand, and Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming. Fire behavior prediction involves fire science, knowing the 'art' of fire, and some computer wizardry.
